It had been almost three months since their newest addition had arrived. It was time for updating those family photos. Mum, Dad, their 2 young boys, their newborn daughter and their furry four legged friend all came down to meet me at the riverside on a beautiful summers Sunday evening.
Perth Family Photography | Exploring The Swan River
Third time around is probably the easiest, only because of the familiarity of being there twice before, but it is still a learning curve as you get to know the personality and temperaments of your new baby. In addition to that, having two young boys running about the house at full speed, it’s no wonder this family waited a little bit longer before updating their family photos.
While these guys had previously never had professional photos done as a family, they have had them done in the past when each of the boys were newborns. It actually makes me so happy that this time they decided to make sure they were all in the frame together, as this is a value that I hold onto with great passion.
We ventured down on a hot summers day just before sunset to the riverside; a place where the boys were familiar with, but also a place so big, that there were still parts that hadn’t been explored before. We travelled over bridges, played on the park, ran under a huge bridge with cars driving over top. We were careful of snakes in the long grass and threw sticks in the water before eventually, it had to happen, at least one of the boys dove into the water fully clothed right at the end. And side note: believe it or not, the oldest boy would not let me point the camera in his direction - but we got there in the end!
Family and Newborn Photography should never be boring. There’s no fun or memories in just standing there and posing away. Make sure you hire someone that is going to capture authentic moments for you and of you, and leaves feeling like they had just spent a relaxing few hours together with their new friend who just happens to enjoy photography.
