2022 Reflections & Christmas Photos Of Your Pets

Photographing your pets for Christmas was definitely a Highlight of my year.

The lead up to Christmas is a popular time of year for lots of people, like yourself, to invest in photography. I’m someone who LOVES to send a personal Christmas card and knowing I’m not the only one, I decided to create themed Christmas mini sessions so that pet crazed owners alike could have cute and quirky images to create their own cards & have something fun to share on socials throughout the festive season.

There’s a first for everything and 2022 had its fair share of firsts, including my studio Christmas mini sessions for your pets.

2022 was a huge success for me with so many moments to celebrate throughout. Since switching up my niche to specialise in photographing your pets just over 12 months ago, I’ve continued to grow my community here and am so grateful to everyone who has supported me and trusted me with their photos both in studio and out - so THANK YOU!

Reflecting on 2022, it’s been a year of firsts, both personally & professionally and I’m so proud of every single one! What follows is a round up of all my firsts for last year. Taking that first step each and every time, is always so nerve wracking but I’ve learnt it’s the only way I’m going to continue to grow and discover my potential.

  • This was my first year photographing your pets including dogs, cats & chickens!

  • First time using a studio and artificial light for a session.

  • I attended my first ever branding shoot and then went and also invested in a second one for the year.

  • I saw Delta Goodrem Live (Something I’ve wanted to do since her very first album)

  • I became an ambassador for another brand: furriends apparel. I’ve never been an ambassador before and honestly love their tees, so if you’re here reading this, then you probably will to ;-)

  • Full of nerves, I joined my first kickboxing class last year and now continue to turn up at least once a week to improve my self defence skills.

  • After 10 years in Perth, my partner and I finally checked in and had our first Crown staycation

  • I discovered you can train your cat and have since taught my cat 6 tricks - well 4 fluently: paw, spin, through the legs & over. Middle & sit pretty are still a work in progress.

  • 2022 was the first year I’d ever run a Black Friday offer and one I’d definitely call a success!

  • I surprised myself and read 17 books last year. After years and years of finding it hard to pick up a single book because I had told myself that “I wasn’t good at reading”, I’ve officially proved myself otherwise and am now half way through my first book of 2023 .

  • I competed in my first a CrossFit competition. Thank goodness it was a paired competition because I’ve never experienced nerves on that level before so it was nice to know I had someone to share the load with. Such an epic day though, and I survived to tell the tale! Haha.

  • I swam underneath a waterfall - Such a thrilling experience - and then only discovered after that in fact I was swimming with eels.

  • I reached out and collaborated with multiple businesses in and around Perth

  • And this year was also the first time running themed Christmas mini sessions

I ran my Christmas mini sessions out of a studio in Osborne Park. I had eight 10-minute session slots to fill and they were a complete hit! To my surprise, they sold out within a few short days thanks to my epic and ever growing email fam.

Everyone who attended had photos on both a dark red paper backdrop as well as photos against a Christmas themed backdrop which was a crowd favourite and for good reason! In total I got to meet 12 doggos and 1 kitty over the two hours and am forever grateful for my friend Jess (Dallas’s Mum @dallasthetoller on IG) for coming along and helping out, because as fun as it was, it was also HECTIC! There are definitely a few things I will be changing up for Christmas 2023 in order to help these sessions run even more smoothly - such as 1 pet per 10minute slot - but all in all it was an awesome success and I’m so proud of myself for creating this and executing it all as well as I did ✌️

Check out some of my fav images from the day.

A mainly black dachshund dog with patches of brown sits and poses beautifully for the camera. He wears a white collar and a red tie with Santas on it around his neck. You can make out a small snowy Christmas tree behind him and a brown wooden door.
A man and woman couple stand slightly side on to the camera smiling. The man wears a grey/blue checkered top. His right hand on the woman. The woman wears a green dress and cradles her black cat wearing a red bandana. They stand on a red backdrop.
2 black staffys both wearing a red and white tartan bow stand straight on to the camera in front of a Christmas inspired backdrop. The left dog is a lot stockier and has a huge wide open smile The right dogs head is slightly tilted and mouth closed
A couple stand together posing on a red wine coloured backdrop with their 2 golden dogs. The woman with long hair wears a red and green Christmas inspired jumper while the man wears a dark blue one. One dog wears a red bow, the other wears green.
A mainly brown 1 year old German shepherd sits tall happy and alert for her photo. She wears a green Christmas Tree shaped name tag. The backdrop is a rustic and snowy Christmas theme
A brown Ridgeback dog stands tall and alert, mouth closed, ears foward and wearing a red tartan bow around his neck looking straight at the camera. He stands in front of a Christmas themed backdrop with trees, red decorations, and snow.
2 Chihuahua dogs are sitting and looking up. One wears a gingerbread inspired bandana around her neck the other wears a santa suit inspired bandana. They stand against a red backdrop.

To wrap it up - in 2022 I believed in what I truly wanted and stuck to my guns. I had a great year. My heart was filled with joy and love thanks to all of your furry friends and I can’t wait to how 2023 unfolds for me as I put more goals into action.
