Perth Pet Photographer Gets Trendy

Wearing Furriends Apparel To Every Photography Session.

I love to support smaller local businesses where I can - and if they’re pet friendly and solid on quality, then you can bet on your dogs dinner, I’m gonna share them with you! Read on if you’re a fur or feathered mama of Perth, of Australia or from anywhere in the World really, you’re gonna love what I have to show you.

If you’ve ever had a photography session with me, you may have noticed the tees I wear, with the quirky pet slogans all over them. Let me share why you need Furriends Apparel in your life.

I’m gonna start with what may sound a little off topic so bear with me, but what you may not know about me is that exercise isn’t just something I do for “me time” or to “lose weight”. After talking with a few people more recently, I’ve learnt that I am one of the more ‘rare breeds’ of people and have been a part of a gym community in one form or another for over 15 years now. I mean sure I’ve had an off week or two over the years, but I always fall back to my baseline of attending multiple times a week. Basically as soon I finished high school I joined a gym, and I was no athlete when I was in school either - but I quickly learnt how empowering working out can feel and I just stuck with it. And thus, working out, training hard, lifting weights is just part of my life - and I think this is why I clicked with Furriends Apparel so quickly too.

Chanelle Megan specialises in dog photography in Perth and wears a quirky tee from Furriends Apparel to all her sessions. Here she wears the white ‘Dogs. Donuts. Deadlift.’ Tee in the style Ava and wears a size small.

I believe I initially came across them when I was looking for clothing for my first ever branding photo session for my own pet photography business, and it would have been the “Lift Heavy Pat Dogs” slogan or the “Dogs, Donuts, Deadlifts” slogan that probably caught my eye first. They really spoke to my soul by incorporating both dogs and exercise!

However, I don’t have a dog of my own *yet*, so after discussing with my photographer Jessy @thepinktankcreative (who took all the photos in this blog post PLUS she also created my epic branding btw) we decided to start off with a more generic tee, something that suited my biz vibe well and something I would love wearing every other day that I wasn’t shooting and so I decided on the “are you FUR-REAL” tee. It portrays my love of pets and also plays on the playful nature of my brand, which I love! From there I couldn’t help but grow my collection of both cat and dog related tees, crops and I’m even adding a jumper for this coming winter season too.

SO WHO ARE FURRIENDS APPAREL THEN?

Furriends Apparel are a newer small business in Queensland, Australia only starting up in June 2021. Their aim is to simply spread their love of pets with the world while keeping wastage to a minimum.

AND HOW ARE THEY DOING THIS?

It was with a bit of trial and error, they decided on only printing designs, pulling blank stock from their inventory, as each order comes in, for the biggest impact towards their mission. For most of their products they print the designs directly onto the fabric using eco friendly ink as opposed to heat transfer. This, combined with sourcing quality garments, creates for a super high quality item that will withstand both everyday wear and those heavier sweat sessions either in the gym or pounding the pavement with your doggo. I have been wearing their tees for over a year now and can 100% attest to their durability! But the consideration of the environment doesn’t stop there. When you receive your order it usually comes wrapped in custom eco-friendly tissue paper and is packed in a home compostable satchel (label also) or cardboard carton and they really try to minimise excess packaging where possible too.

WHY YOU SHOULD CHECK THEM OUT:

Look, I do understand the benefits of me sourcing out my own uniform specifically with my own logo on it, buuut when I’ve found an Australian company who not only has 100’s of cool designs suited to every kinda pet pawrent, but is also environmentally conscious and has a love of working out, it makes it really hard for me to be swayed otherwise! Their t-shirts and crop tees are super comfy and they definitely wear well over time. They aren’t just for dog or cat mama’s but have also taken into consideration those who love their horses and cows and chickens - I swear there’s a few reptile designs amongst their collection too. They really try to be as inclusive as possible with their t-shirt sizes ranging from XS to 5XL, but if a tee or jumper really isn’t your vibe then they can print their designs onto cushion covers, tote bags, coasters and coffee mugs to match - every one needs a mug telling the world how much they’re obsessed with their pet, am I right?? Clearly I’ve fallen in love with this company and their designs and I guarantee Furriends Apparel will have something PAW-fect for you too!
